The Intelligent Recovery

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]There is one word that defines the sustainable business in 2020 – resilience. In a year shaped by disruption, resilience is the key that unlocks the organization’s ability to grow, thrive and strategize in a complex climate. According to IDC, agility and digital transformation are two of the most important ingredients for building digital resilience and ensuring business continuity right now. This is a sentiment shared by research firm McKinsey in a discussion focusing on how organizations can better learn to balance on the knife-edge of uncertainty.

Fortunately, within this landscape of uncertainty, digital has already proven itself to be capable of providing the organization with the business continuity services and support it needs, on demand. The sudden move from traditional working practices to primarily remote working has pushed many companies into unfamiliar territory but access to hybrid cloud solutions, disaster recovery (DR), business continuity (BC) and as-a-Service platforms have made the move far more realistic and seamless than 20 or even 10 years ago.

Business continuity relies on technology that advances IT resiliency, empowers the remote worker, and provides the organization with the tools it needs to refine its objectives. Companies that place resilience and digital at the centre of their BC strategic outlooks are more likely to build agile foundations within mercurial markets and times.  But what, precisely, is resilience?

According to McKinsey & Company it is “the ability to absorb a shock and come out of it better than the competition.” In the same article, the company revealed that research undertaken post-2008 economic collapse showed that resilient companies had recovered far faster than those who were not. They were affected by the collapse; they did not escape unscathed, but when the crisis was over, they had seen a rise in earnings of 10% compared to the loss of almost 15% felt by those who could not, or did not, adapt.

There is little doubt that organizations are feeling pain right now. But there is equally little doubt that digital transformation and investment present the right path forward, no matter how counterintuitive it may feel right now. This is the carpe diem moment. This is the opportunity to pivot into resilience through the use of digital solutions designed to provide the agility and flexibility that the organization needs.

To achieve this, organizations should consider a mix of hybrid cloud and as-a-Service platforms that allow for a solid mix of on-premises, public and private cloud that delivers their infrastructure requirements. SAP and HPE have developed a significant portfolio of as-a-Service and hybrid cloud solutions that bolster storage, security, data, stability and essential services. Designed to boost productivity and access while reducing cost to company, these cloud-based BC solutions are adaptable and scalable, allowing businesses to pivot on demand. This is a critical tactic that gives the organization the resilience it needs to adapt to changes and approach uncertainty with confidence.

The investment into these hybrid cloud platforms and solutions provides a certain amount of flex for the organization. But there is a caveat. Investment into cloud is not a one-size-fits all approach that can be lifted and shifted into any environment to achieve specific results. It requires partnering with the right organizations that understand the value of the technology and, most importantly, how this technology can embed value into the business.

This makes finding the right partner absolutely critical to the success of any digital transformation strategy. HPE’s Cloud28+ platform has been developed to make it incredibly easy for organizations to find a business continuity and digital transformation partner with the expertise that fits their needs.
